First Year Retreats

Get-Away

Get-Away provides first year students an opportunity to escape campus after about a month of their first semester at college. The focus of this reflective community event is to take a step back from the busy experience of college to have fun and reflect on where you want to go over the next four years.

Get-Away happens each year in the middle of September & registration begins in the summer.

Upper Class Retreats

Approach

Approach is Xavier's introductory retreat which is driven by the narratives of the students. Rooted in Christianity, the retreat calls students to a greater awareness to God in the world around and serves as an introduction to the importance of reflection in one’s everyday "approach" to life.

Approach happens each semester & registration opens 4-6 weeks prior to the retreat.

Encounter

Encounter is for those students who have already attended the 'Approach Retreat' or for those with retreat experience, Encounter is the "next step" in broadening the students spiritual lives and deepening their commitments to faith and justice.

Encounter happens each year in the Spring semester.

Silent Retreat

Silent Retreat provides a unique opportunity for personal prayer and reflection in the Ignatian Tradition. Personal direction is offered throughout the weekend to help you grow in faith and deepen your relationship with God.

Silent Retreat happens each year in the Spring semester.

Senior Get-Away

Senior Getaway offers an opportunity for graduating seniors to reminisce and celebrate accomplishments. This is a time to reflect on the past and the present and to look to the future, while finding support in this period of transition in a fun and relaxed environment with your friends.

Senior Get-Away happens each year in late March or early April & registion opens 4-6 weeks prior to the retreat.

 

Busy Day/Busy Person’s Retreat in the Ignatian Tradition

In this two week retreat that takes place right here on Xavier’s Campus amidst your busy lives, students commit to praying daily, meet with a spiritual director three times, and are given materials that help lead them through an experience with the Exercises of St. Ignatius.

Re-Discovering Catholicism

A day-away retreat specifically for Catholic students seeking to understand and pray in their faith which includes Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, Confession, Talks, and small groups.
