Service Programs
These programs, which are facilitated by Xavier students and/or CFJ staff, provide a variety of enriching experiences to engage the community surrounding Xavier as well as reflect on your experience and apply your experiences to your own personal mission.
X Change
X Change Weekly Service Program provides an action-oriented entry point for volunteers to engage in the Cincinnati community through weekly service and reflection; to encourage students to think critically and advocate for social justice as men and women for and with others.
X Change works in partnership with community organizations to arrange for students to serve weekly at the same site throughout the semester. Additionally we arrange sites especially designed for first year students and those new to XU. Providing and opportunity to do service, explore assets and challenges of our city, make great friends, and have lots of fun! (Formerly known as the S.T.A.R. & ConneXions programs)

Community Action Day
CAD is a once per semester University-wide day of service in partnership with over 20 non-profit organizations. It is a great community building day that speaks to being and becoming men and women for and with others. CAD typically takes place each year in September and March.

Alternative Breaks

AB Provides service, education, and reflection filled immersion opportunities in various communities around the United States and abraod during spring and summer breaks. Applications are due in early October each year.
Habitat for Humanity
In an effort to alleviate the poverty of affordable housing in our city, Xavier Habitat builds and sponsors simple, decent housing in Cincinnati with work projects most Saturday mornings.

Summer Service Internship
A paid summer internship for 20 students to serve full-time at local agencies and live in community on campus. Applications now available!

Monthly Service
4pm to 6pm one Friday a month, the CFJ sends a group of up to 10 students to serve with St. Francis Seraph Soup Kitchen.

NEXUS Community Garden
Get your hands dirty with fellow students, faculty, staff and neighborhood residents while growing veggies for donation! Come help maintain the garden and community plots every Wednesday from 4-6PM thru the end of October.
