What is the Gender and Diversity Studies Minor?

The gender and diversity studies minor is a 15-hour interdisciplinary minor open to all Xavier undergraduates and compatible with any major. Courses can be arranged to overlap with your other requirements if you begin the minor early, before completing core curriculum requirements. Students take either English 128: Studies in Black Literature or English 132: Studies in Women's Literature. These courses are open to all students, and enrollment does not commit you to the full minor. It is recommended that you take one of these courses if you are considering adding the gender and diversity studies minor to your program. Successful completion of the minor will be noted on your transcript.

The gender and diversity studies minor is in concert with the educational mission of Xavier University - to educate students about issues of peace and justice and to develop awareness of the multiplicity of human cultural experiences. Some recent graduates with concentrations in gender and diversity studies have entered graduate and professional schools. Others work in business, government, social services, schools and museums.
