NCAA Ethnic Minority and Women's Enhancement Postgraduate Program's Scholarship for Careers in Athletics

The NCAA Ethnic Minority and Women's Enhancement Postgraduate Program is offering a scholarship for minority and female students interested in pursuing a career in intercollegiate athletics. Annually, 32 scholarships are awarded to college graduates who will be entering their initial year of full-time postgraduate studies in a sports-related field. Each award is valued at $6,000. Fellowships

Provide an individual the opportunity to serve in an ideal setting for advanced subspecialty training. Individuals are given the opportunity to study and gain invaluable insight into a particular field of study. These programs can last six weeks to several years.   • AGEP: programs offer minority students support in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics fields.
  • GK-12: The NSF Graduate Teaching Fellows in K-12 Education (GK-12) Program supports fellowships and training for graduate students in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
  • IGERT: fellowship programs offer a $30,000 stipend plus tuition and fees. Over 100 programs nationwide emphasize interdisciplinary studies in science, technology, mathematics, and engineering.
  • MSPHDS: The Minorities Striving and Pursuing Higher Degrees of Success (MSPHDS) in Earth System Science initiative was developed by and for underrepresented minorities with the overall purpose of facilitating increased participation in Earth system science.
  • NSF Grad Research Fellowships: provides students with three years of funding for research-focused Master’s and PhD degrees in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields. Grants provide funds to an individual, a group of individuals, or an organization, usually for a specific project. Monetary grants are given to assist in paying for education, or research and development projects. In some cases, grant awards do not require repayment. See studentjobs.gov for more information.
Scholarships

Scholarships provide funds to an individual who has demonstrated high academic achievement and the desire to further their education in a field of study. Scholarships may be awarded up to four years to an individual. See studentjobs.gov for more information.

Graduate Assistantships
Graduate Assistantships are often available at institutions with graduate level programs. These positions are typically part-time, paid positions on the college campus with many waiving various percentages of graduate tuition. Assistantships are often listed as Graduate Assistantships (GA), Teaching Assistantships (TA), or Research Assistantships (RA). To research these opportunities, contact the institution directly for their process of awarding such opportunities to graduate students – most are competitive!
