Career Services Center

Career/Major Exploration Resources

The Career Services Center can help students understand how interests, skills, work values, and personality can impact major and career decision-making through career assessments and other resources.  Students who are undecided on a major or a career can work with a career coach to gain greater self-awareness that can be helpful when researching majors and careers of interests.  Schedule an initial appointment with a career coach!  Your career coach will work with you to establish a goals and a plan that is right for you.

*ASSESSMENTS

The XU Career Services Center may recommend students to complete one or a series of assessments through *MyPlan.com.  During the second meeting, your career coach will interpret your results and show you resources that will help with your exploration process.

MyPlan.com - MyPlan.com can help you explore options and bring clarity and insight into figuring out what’s right for you.  The Xavier University Career Services Center is proud to provide free access to three (3) MyPlan.com assessments to XU students including Career Personality, Career Interest Inventory, and Values Assessment.  MyPlan also offers tools to research majors and careers, browse industries and much more.

To complete all three recommended MyPlan assessments above, students in the College of Arts and Sciences and Social Sciences, Health and Education can meet with a career coach to obtain the License Code for free testing.

* In some situations, the XU Career Services Center may recommend the completion of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and/or the Strong Interest Explorer in lieu of MyPlan.com assessments. These instruments are administered only after consultation with one of our professional staff members and require a follow-up appointment for interpretation and for reviewing next steps.   Students/alumni in the Williams College of Business may take the CareerLeader College Assessment administered through the WCB Professional Development Center.

Online Abbreviated Assessments - Here are some other assessment tools that provide you with a snapshot of your profile as well as give you an insight to how assessments work. These are not monitored or interpreted by the Career Services Center.
