Where did you hear about this professional opportunity, and what do you think contributed to being hired? I initially was hired as an intern for Fifth Third Bank in the summer of 2012 as an FLP intern. I heard about this opportunity through Xavier's experience page. Those who were of great help and support were the Williams College of Business and the Career Development Office. The WCB employees prepared my resume, communication skills, and professional look and the Career Development Office was kind in preparing onsite (Xavier's Campus) interviews with 5/3.
How did Xavier Career Development help you along the way to achieve this accomplishment? The CDO was very clear and communicative when it came to interview time. I signed up online and knew exactly where to go for my interview. The staff was very helpful and positive, encouraging me to relax. This helped create a light-hearted atmosphere where I could succeed.
Based on your own experiences, what advice do you have for students as they gear up for their job/internship search? It's important to be relaxed and calm. Schedule your interviews in order of least favorite to favorite so you obtain some practice and experience for the questions and interview process. Also, concentrate on your grades because it's obviously essential to have a good GPA, but in my opinion, it's almost more important to be personable. By this I mean a company definitely cares about your intelligence, but almost as equally important is one's ability to fit into the company's culture.
