Career assessments are often helpful when students wish to explore their interests, skills, preferences, and values as they relate to selecting a major or choosing a career path. While making an informed major/career decision is a process, career assessments can be valuable in helping you narrow your selections and consider a variety of options. The Career Development Office is proud to offer three career assessments:
Helps students make well-informed education and career decisions through a career personality test, interest inventory, skills profiler, and values assessment. MyPlan is free for all Xavier students. While results are immediate and MyPlan offers a great deal of helpful information for exploring careers of interest, all students are encouraged to schedule an interpretation with a career counselor to help you better understand your results, discuss various major options, and suggest activities and internship opportunities to help you with your career decisions.
Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)
Personality assessment rooted in Carl Jung's theory of psychological type. This assessment helps individuals better understand themselves and how they interact with others. The MBTI is free to all Xavier students, however students must meet with a career coach to take this assessment.
Strong Interest Inventory (Strong)
Measures career and leisure interests to help students discover their interests, preferences, and personal styles - information that is helpful when making educational and career decisions. The Strong is free to all Xavier students, however students must meet with a career coach to take this assessment.
