Winners of the 2011 Xavier Launch-a-Business Competition, which supports economic development in Greater Cincinnati and beyond, will be announced at a celebration on Tuesday, Aug. 30.
The event will held at 1:30 pm in the Grand Atrium of Smith Hall at Xavier University. Smith Hall is at Dana Avenue and Ledgewood Drive, Cincinnati.
Entrepreneurs filed 146 applications in the 2011 X-LAB Competition, a program run by the Williams College of Business. As part of the rigorous screening process, winners will be selected based on their written applications, in-depth questionnaires and two interviews. About 10 winners will be selected.
X-LAB will select the most creative, determined entrepreneurs with the most promising ideas.
X-LAB will provide the winners with consulting services and other support worth thousands of dollars. X-LAB is different than other entrepreneur competitions because its primary benefit is sharing the business expertise of its faculty, MBA students and executives affiliated with the College. Many entrepreneur competitions offer cash prizes but little business expertise.
