Scott A. Chadwick, Ph.D., Provost and Chief Academic Officer at Xavier University, announces the appointments of Dave Johnson as Associate Provost for Student Affairs and Annette Marksberry as Associate Provost for Information Technologies and Chief Information Officer, effective July 1, 2012.
Dave Johnson has been at Xavier since 2007, when he began as the director of Peace and Justice Programs. In 2009 he facilitated the founding of the Dorothy Day Center for Faith and Justice, which brought together Campus Ministry and Peace and Justice Programs. He served as the executive director of the Center until January when he began as the interim associate provost for Student Life and Leadership. Previously, Johnson led service and social justice initiatives for Saint John’s University in Collegeville, MN, after which he spent five years with the SHARE Foundation, a U.S./Salvadoran NGO. He served as the Coordinator of Grassroots Organizing in San Salvador before becoming the Advocacy Director in Washington, DC. Johnson worked in Campus Ministry and Residence Life at Boston College, supporting its international immersion programs and living in a first-year residence hall.
“Dave demonstrates a strong skill set in designing systems that support student learning and development. His ability to do this while acting in very mission-centric ways will provide great leadership for our campus,” said Chadwick.
Johnson received his bachelor’s degree in Peace Studies from Saint John’s University in MN and a master’s degree in theology with a concentration in social ethics at Boston College. He is pursuing a Ph.D. in student affairs in higher education from Miami University in Oxford.
Annette Marksberry has been at Xavier since 2006 when she began as a project manager in Information Resources. In 2009 Marksberry facilitated the founding of the Project Management Office. Marksberry served as Director of Strategic Information Resources beginning in January of 2010 and as Associate Vice President for Information Resources as of August of 2011. Since February 29, 2012, she has been Interim CIO for Information Resources. Prior to Xavier, Marksberry worked at several companies including Siemens, Citibank and General Electric.
“Annette’s ability to create a positive goal-driven team environment is remarkable. Her leadership in serving the campus community is matched by her skill at leading us to the technology terrain of the future,” said Chadwick.
Marksberry received her bachelor’s degree in Economics and Finance at Northern Kentucky University and her MBA from Xavier University.
