# Pi Mu Epsilon Forty-ninth Initiation Ceremony

| March 1, 2011

On January 30th, 2011, the 49th Pi Mu Epsilon Initiation Ceremony took place. Students, faculty, Math Club members, and parents of the Pi Mu Epsilon candidates attended. The event commenced with the mathematical presentations of two of last year’s Pi Mu Epsilon inductees. Debi Schuda presented a “A Taste of Graph Theory” and Matt Dulle discussed “Using Copulas to Model Bivariate Associations”. After the students’ presentations, Prof. Lewandowski introduced the faculty of the department. Subsequently, Prof. Bill Larkin gave a heartfelt tribute to the memory of Prof. Jim Delaney. The induction ceremony followed. This year’s Pi Mu Epsilon candidates were Christopher Anderson, Jaime Guerrero, Nicholas Makley, Tristan Nighswander, Diana Salter, and Patrick Schmidt. Current Pi Mu Epsilon members, Luke Giberson, Kevin Johns, and Debi Schuda, successfully inducted the new members into the honorary mathematical society. At the completion of the ceremony, faculty, students, and parents gathered for a savory lunch and to socialize.
