Holly Schapker, a 1992 Xavier art graduate, was so inspired by her experiences while on an Ignatian pilgrimage that she created a collection of paintings depicting the life of St. Ignatius Loyola. The pilgrimage traces the steps of Ignatius in Spain and Italy on his journey of healing and his spiritual transformation, which led to his founding of the Jesuit order.
Schapker also completed the Spiritual Exercises developed by Ignatius, which contributed to her interest in depicting her interpretation of his mission. The collection, titled Adsum, is featured in the current issue of Company magazine, published quarterly by the U.S. Jesuits. Readers can download a pdf of the story or visit the magazine's web site to read the spring issue. The collection is being exhibited at Xavier from May 25-28.
