Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Awareness Day will be held at Xavier University on Thursday, April 12 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The theme is “Healthy, Safe and Responsible.” AOD Awareness Day is part of a comprehensive campus-wide campaign to raise awareness about AOD abuse and misuse, reduce AOD related harm and offer helpful resources and prevention tools.
The AOD Prevention Campaign operates according to a harm reduction and health promotion model. The campaign seeks to detour AOD abuse and misuse and promotes healthy social norms at Xavier. An essential part of the campaign is the administration of the BART (Brief Alcohol Risk Tool), a screening instrument that offers a personalized risk assessment, education and important links to supportive resources. BART is used to promote and reinforce student safety, reduce risk and prevent problems associated with alcohol and other drug abuse and misuse.
