Xavier Professor Receives Grant to Study Incongruities Between Faith and Ecology

Elizabeth Groppe, associate professor of Theology at Xavier University, has been awarded a $40,000 grant from the Louisville Institute for a research sabbatical from January 1 to August 31, 2011 to research a book entitled “Guarding the Flame of the Grandeur of God: Christian Life and Practice in an Era of Ecological Crisis.”

Exhibit of Pope John Paul II"s Relationship with the Jewish People Marks 5th Anniversary

Five years ago tonight, people of many faiths opened an historic exhibition: “A Blessing to One Another: Pope John Paul II and the Jewish People.” This multi-media exhibit ran from May 19 - July 15, 2005 at Xavier University, and includes photos, video footage, documents and artifacts recording the extraordinary contributions of Pope John Paul II to relations between the Catholic and Jewish faiths.

Xavier Student Receives U.S. Department of State Critical Language Scholarship

Ashley Bonnell of Xavier University has been awarded a U.S. Department of State Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) to study Arabic in Tunisia during the summer of 2010. Ashley is from Columbus, IN and is the daughter of Ethel and Richard Bonnell. She is a senior in Xavier’s Philosophy, Politics & The Public honors program, majoring in history with a minor in gender and diversity studies.
