Xavier accounting students are offering free tax preparation services for low-income, elderly and student taxpayers on Monday evenings beginning Monday, Feb. 20, and continuing through Monday, April 9. This is the 18th year that Xavier’s Williams College of Business has offered the service.
The students are offering free basic federal and state income tax assistance to the Xavier, Norwood, Evanston and Avondale communities through the IRS-sponsored Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA).
The dates that students are available for assistance are Feb. 20, Feb. 27, Mar. 12, Mar. 19, Apr. 2 and Apr. 9. Getting help is easy. Call 513-745-2828 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to schedule an appointment. Service is first-come, first-served at the allotted time slots. Taxpayers must bring the following items to the appointment:
• A photo ID
• Your W2 and 1099 forms (your last pay stub is not enough)
• Your Social Security cards for you, your spouse and your dependents
• Any tax-related documents
• A copy of last year’s tax return if possible
The students will be set up in the Schiff Family Conference Center banquet rooms at Xavier’s Cintas Center. Free parking is available at the Cintas Center. For additional information, contact Priscilla O’Clock, Department of Accountancy, 513-745-4245.
