The Muskies results from last weekend don't show it but there was a lot to be learned from two tough losses to the Toledo Rockets. The Rockets took it to the Muskies on Friday night and were in control throught the game. Goal tender Tim Pie bounced back from a sub par outing his last time in the nets and was stellar. Despite bringing his A game, Toledo was just too much to handle. The Winter Classic was held outdoors on Saturday and despite a 7-2 defeat, the team is better off from the experience and a lot was learned for players and coaches.
Things do not get any easier this coming weekend as the Muskies head to South Bend for two games against Holy Cross. The Saints have had X's number for the past several years which includes a seven game winning streak. Some tough roster turnover will have X without some veterans but as coach Sperrick says "next man up." "At this point in the season nobody can lean on claiming to be new or young. Every guys had enough ice time and experiene to contribute and if we are to win this weekend, they need to deliver" said Coach Driscoll. "We are at a point now that if everyone does their job and takes personal ownership in great defense, we should be able to compete with anyone."
