Ryan's Pub dedicated to lifelong friend

Pub in Gallagher Center named for Stephen Ryan, friend of Charlie Gallagher '60 | September 26, 2002

Good friends develop long relationships at Xavier. Nobody knows that better than 1960 graduate Charles Gallagher. In tribute to his friend and former Xavier roommate, Stephen Ryan, the on-campus pub was named after him. Ryan’s Pub is located in the Gallagher Student Center, which was named in honor of Charles P. Gallagher. This year’s recipient of the Founders’ Day Award, Gallagher matched $9 million in funds to help ensure that the new student center could be built. Gallagher remained close friends with Ryan until he passed away in 1981. A private dedication takes place this evening in Ryan’s Pub. “This dedication serves to acknowledge a friend in college as one of the most significant relationships,” says Ron Sleptiza, vice president for student development.
