Musketeer Madness to be held this Sunday in Cintas Center

Event celebrates start of new basketball season | October 18, 2002

The department of athletics is hosting a Musketeer Madness celebration on Sunday, Oct. 20, in the Cintas Center to kick off the men and women’s basketball seasons. The doors open at 4:00 p.m. First-year head coach Kevin McGuff leads the women’s team in an intrasquad scrimmage at 5:00 p.m. The women’s team, which is led by All-American guard Amy Waugh, officially start its season in Malibu, Calif., on Nov. 22 against Pepperdine University. The team’s first home game is Dec. 7 against Central Connecticut State in the second annual Provident Bank Xavier Invitational. The men’s team takes the court at 6:00 p.m. for an intrasquad scrimmage. The team, which includes All-Americans Romain Sato and David West, starts its season Nov. 18 at home against St. Peter’s in the preseason NIT first round. The game is televised on ESPN2.
