Univ. of Rochester professor speaks

Peter Mott talks about the populist group Alliance for Democracy | October 17, 2002

Peter Mott, an associate professor of preventive and community medicine at the University of Rochester, is speaking tomorrow, Oct. 18, at 3:00 p.m. in Hailstones Hall, Room 2. He’ll be talking about how the Alliance for Democracy might be the most effective way to bring economic justice to Latin America. The Alliance for Democracy is a populist movement of people seeking to end the domination of the economy, government, culture, media and the environment by large corporations. The group works with other organizations around the world that share the same goals. Mott is also the editor of “Interconnect,” a quarterly newsletter that goes out to more than 2,000 people and groups that are working in the United States in solidarity with the people of Latin America. Its purpose is to help build grassroots movements and to share information on resources. Sponsors of the event are the peace and justice program and Voices of Solidarity.
