Reunion Weekend 2010 kicks off Friday, Nov. 5, through Sunday, Nov. 7, with special events including a men's basketball pre-season game on Saturday, Nov. 6, where the Muskies are sporting new snazzy Nike uniforms.
This year's celebration honors the 50th anniversary of the Class of 1960.
Reunion Weekend, sponsored by the National Alumni Association, is Xavier's largest and most extensive on-campus alumni event. Each year hundreds of alumni come together to catch up with classmates, relive memories and tour the ever-changing campus.
Special events include meeting up with old classmates, colleagues and friends over the course of three days at free class cocktail parties and class-specific events such as the Class of 1960 50th anniversary celebration. Attendees will be among the first to see the men's basketball players in their new uniforms as they make final preparations for the start of the season.
Also, the newly formed Black Alumni Association is holding several special events and capping off the weekend on Sunday with a praise and worship service with former Xavier basketball player and alum Pastor Brandon McIntosh. He will be leading a worship experience featuring Xavier's Gospel Choir.
Other highlights include: a presentation of song and dance with Leonard Bernstein: West Side Story and Candide; Art at the X exhibitions of artwork by student artists; a Black Alumni Scholarship Cabaret; Madcap Puppet Show theater presentation; Edgecliff Mass and luncheon; a Montgomery Inn barbeque at Dana Gardens; class-specific pre-game parties before the men's basketball game; and an XU Classicial Piano, Guitar and Swing Series performance.
Unfortunately, because of injuries, the Club Football game and the remainder of the football season have been canceled.
The University has reserved a block of rooms at the Hilton Cincinnati Netherland Plaza downtown. For more information, visit the Reunion Weekend website.
