Cincinnati Student Selected to attend West Point Conference

March 30, 2010

Xavier Army ROTC CDT Robert Besier of the “All For One” Battalion was selected as one of twelve Cadets to represent the 7th ROTC Brigade, which represents 38 schools in five states (OH, KY, IN, TN, MI). He will attend Battle Command Conference XIII at The United States Military Academy at West Point from April 12-14.

At BCC, Cadets learn from battle-seasoned mentors the challenges of serving with and leading soldiers of all ranks. They conduct an inventory of their Character, Competence, and Leadership to develop a balance of these critical traits. Mentors and Cadets participate in a Leader-to-Leader (L2L) high energy, facilitated conversation, through small groups using various combat scenarios experienced by leaders in Afghanistan.

“It is an honor and a privilege to represent an organization with such a long and distinguished history like the "All For One Battalion," says Besier. “As a result of going to the Military Academy at West Point for the Battle Command Conference, I hope to enrich my own as well as my fellow Cadets’ wealth of knowledge for our future commissions in the US Army."

Besier, 22, is a senior majoring in political science at Xavier. A Cincinnati native (45233), he is the son of James and Janice Besier. On May 14, he will be commissioned as a second lieutenant and will attend law school before joining the Army as a Judge Advocate General Officer.
