Karen Wells, Vice President of Strategy and Menu with McDonald’s USA, and a 1989 alumna of Xavier University’s Williams College of Business will speak on Thursday, March 25 from 8-9 am in the James & Caroline Duff Banquet Center on the Xavier campus. Her topic will be “Inclusion and Diversity in Business: A Journey of Lessons Learned.” The event is open to the public and the cost per person is $25. Karen Wells has more than 20 years of leadership experience in Fortune 500 companies. As vice president of strategy and menu for McDonalds USA, she is responsible for developing and communicating fully integrated, cross-functional plans to drive long-term growth, while also overseeing a talented and innovative team that shapes the menu for more than 27 million customers every day.
Beginning her career with McDonald’s in 1992 as a marketing supervisor, she moved through the ranks to become Raleigh regional marketing manager. In 1997, she was selected for the McDonalds Executive Training Program and moved on to become vice president of operations, regional vice president and general manager.
Prior to McDonalds, she was a sales leader for the M&M Mars Co., and a buyer for Drackett Co.
Wells is involved with the Xavier University President’s Advisory Council and the Xavier Women of Excellence. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Marketing from Xavier and her MBA from Meredith College in Raleigh, NC. She lives with her husband, Rundy, and children, Donovan and Brittney, in Naperville, IL.
