Work continues on the future site of the Learning Commons.

Work continues on the future site of the Learning Commons.

Despite the chilly weather, work continues on the James E. Hoff, S.J. Academic Quad. The project is on schedule to be completed in the fall of 2010.

 

Here are some updates.

·         80% of demolition materials have been recycled

·         Duke Energy is on site relocating public utilities.   When completed, the temporary earth shoring will be installed to allow the mass excavation to begin.

·         Mass excavation for the Williams College of Business is complete. Drilled piers are nearing completion and the foundation work is underway.  Foundation work will continue through the winter into March of next year.

·         Demolition on the site of the Learning Commons is complete and excavation has begun.   Earth shoring is being installed behind McDonald Library to allow mass excavation to continue.  Work on drilled piers is also underway 

·        Work is underway on a utility tunnel that will run from the new Central Utility plant under Dana Avenue to an area near the Learning Commons. The tunnel will be 10 feet in diameter and will be dug out by hand.
