Family Weekend at Xavier is scheduled for October 17-18 at the Evanston campus. Xavier students invite their parents and siblings to explore their home-away-from home and experience the many vibrant facets of their life on campus. They can participate in events like Taste of Xavier, the Xavier Players’ production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Bingo Bash, a construction presentation, scavenger hunt, Mass, Gospel Choir, club sports competitions, and more.
But the weekend also offers things for those who are not parents of current students.
Musketeers Fan Fest Presented by Skyline Chili
Xavier Athletics hosts Musketeers Fan Fest presented by Skyline Chili on October 18. Fan Fest, an interactive fan entertainment event located on the plaza outside of the Cintas Center main entrance, signifies the official start of college basketball season. The public celebration will begin at 3:00 p.m. and will precede the Musketeer volleyball teams' match against Rhode Island at 5:30 p.m. Fan Fest attendance and parking is free. And, as part of the weekend's festivities, admission to the volleyball match will be FREE.
A new 20' inflatable mascot, identical to the new Musketeer secondary logo, will also be unveiled publicly for the first time at Fan Fest. Xavier head basketball coaches Sean Miller and Kevin McGuff will introduce their teams and speak about the coming season. The men's and women's basketball players and coaches will sign autographs, pose for pictures and discuss the upcoming season with fans of all ages.
This year’s X-Shirt will be unveiled at Fan Fest. This X-shirt design was recommended by Sean Miller in tribute to former Xavier coach Skip Prosser, who died suddenly in July 2007. Everyone is invited to the unveiling of the secret design in front of the Cintas Center just after 3:00 on the 18th. The shirt committee will explain the design and present a check for over $3,400 to the Coalition for the Homeless from last year's shirt sales. Proceeds from sales of this year’s X-shirt will go to Adventures for Wish Kids, a Cincinnati organization that provides adventures and other activities for children with life-threatening diseases. Shirts will be available for purchase for $18 after the unveiling.
