He feels he has had many wonderful opportunities at Xavier over the past four years. The ones that stand out include a summer 2007 honors trip to Greece in which he visited Athens, Santorini, Crete, the Peloponnese, and Thessaloniki, saw many famous archaeological sites, and earned six credit hours; the 2007 National Conference of Undergraduate Research in San Francisco where he delivered a research paper written during his junior year; and the 2008 Xavier Celebration of Student Research, when he delivered a summary of his senior thesis during a Classics research panel.
“During my time at Xavier, I had many memorable experiences,” Hartig says. “I feel it is a great honor to be able to address my classmates during commencement.” In his address, he will talk about the liberal arts education received at Xavier over the past four years and will reflect on how this education has enabled students to become excellent human beings.
