Scholar Robin Wright discusses the future of the Middle East as part of the E/RS lecture series

Scholar Robin Wright is speaking on Sunday, April 13, at 7:00 p.m. in the Schiff Conference and Banquet Center. Wright is speaking on “The Future of the Middle East: Dreams and Shadows.” Her presentation is part of Xavier’s 2007-2008 Ethics/Religion & Society (E/RS) lecture series.

Wright is the author of Sacred Rage: The Wrath of Militant Islam and The Last Great Revolution: Turmoil and Transformation in Iran. Her forthcoming book is Dreams and Shadows: The Future of the Middle East. She is the diplomatic correspondent for The Washington Post. She has worked for a number of major newspapers in the United States and Great Britain including The Los Angeles Times, the Sunday Times of London and the Christian Science Monitor. In 2003, she was awarded the United Nations correspondents' Gold Medal for coverage of international affairs. In that same year, she became a regular panelist on the “Meet the Press” roundtable on NBC.

This event is free and open to the public. Wright is holding an informal discussion with political science students and faculty in Long Recital Hall earlier at 3:00 p.m. The public is welcome to attend this, as well. This event is co-sponsored by the American Jewish Committee.
