Xavier sends eight students to Rooftop Comedy regional competition

Xavier 8 vs. Ohio State 8 | March 10, 2008

Eight Xavier students advanced from the regional competition for Rooftop Comedy’s inaugural National College Comedy Competition. Launched Feb. 13, the competition is traveling to 32 colleges across the country searching for the country's funniest college student. Zack Berger, Reid Faylor, Charles Galvin, Briana Hansen, Ray O'Brien, Jackie Stenger, Mike Sause and Rosie Swan comprise the Xavier team, which will advance to regional competition against a team from Ohio State on April 9.

“The people running the competition said they were very impressed with each comedian and the caliber of the comedians at Xavier," says Hansen.

The Xavier 8 will compete against the Ohio State 8 on Wednesday, April 9, at Go Bananas Comedy Club.  Each comedian gets five minutes. The sets will be podcast and recorded and a panel of judges and viewers will rank entrants. Out of the 16, just one will be the regional finalist. That person’s recorded set will be put up on the web site, RoofTopComedy.com, and, for the next month or two, people will go online to view all the regional finalists and vote on their favorite. Of those, four move on to a free trip to Aspen to be part of a larger comedy festival, from which one will be named the winner and receive $1,500.
