The Xavier University women's basketball team encourages everyone to have “A Healthy Xperience” Wednesday, January 30 at Cintas Center as the Lady Musketeers take on the St. Louis Billikens at noon.
Over 5,800 students in grades 3-8 have participated in Xavier Youth Day during the last three years. This year the event is supported by the American Heart Association’s cause campaign, Alliance for a Healthier Generation, a partnership with the William J. Clinton Foundation. The goal of the Alliance is to stop the nationwide increase in childhood obesity and to empower kids nationwide to make healthy lifestyle choices.
Xavier Youth Day begins when students arrive in their buses at 9:30 a.m. Xavier and the AHA will deliver a program including an educational message about the importance of staying healthy and being physically active. They will hear from former Cincinnati Bengals kicker Doug Pelfrey, a Xavier student-athlete, and a coach accompanied by D’Artagnan and the Blue Blob. Students will also be treated to on-court interactive contests and in-game promotions to get them involved. Students will enjoy their lunches with a healthful drink from Xavier before the game tips off at noon. For more information about “A Healthy Xperience,” please call Becky Jackson at (513) 745-3389.
Tickets to the Xavier vs. St. Louis game are only $7.00 for adults and $5.00 for youth 17 and under. Groups of 15 or more can get $2.00 off. Groups will be announced on the videoboard and over the public address system if tickets are purchased in advance of game day. For basketball tickets call (513) 745-3411.
