Music department hosts fifth annual Madrigal Dinner in the Conaton Board Room

Guests enjoy a traditional Christmas meal and entertainment | November 21, 2007

The Conaton Board Room in Schmidt Hall will again transform into a Renaissance feasting hall complete with court nobles, musicians, heralding trumpets, elegant food and divine music on Saturday, Dec. 15, at 7:00 p.m. as the music department presents its fifth annual Madrigal Dinner. The cost of the dinner is $80 per person and includes an open bar.

The Madrigal Dinner will begin with a cocktail hour followed by a traditional Elizabethan feast. Guests will be seated at festively adorned tables where they will enjoy a Christmas dinner with all the trimmings: the Wassail (hot apple cider), the boar’s head (prime rib) and Yorkshire pudding.

Xavier’s Edgecliff Vocal Ensemble, under the direction of assistant professor of music and Master of Ceremonies Tom Merrill, will be seated at the high table, dressed in Renaissance finery. The ensemble will provide musical entertainment throughout the evening. After the dinner, they will sing a brief concert of Christmas favorites. Proceeds from the dinner will support future music department productions.

Reservations are limited and can be made by calling 513 745-3801.
