Spanish Professors Publish and Present

Dr. Diane Ceo-DiFrancesco, Associate Professor of Spanish, delivered a presentation at the 2007 Annual Meeting of the American Association of Teachers of Spanish & Portuguese, held August 2-5 in San Diego, CA. Her talk, prepared with Kathy Barton, a colleague from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, was titled “A New Focus on Language Learning.” They offer new ways of promoting language learning through reduced grammar, with suggestions for using grammar as a tool to build proficiency.

Also, Dr. Ceo-DiFrancesco recently published “A Montessori Approach to Learning Another Language,” which appears in the Winter 2007 edition of the North American Montessori Teachers’ Association Journal.

Dr. David Knutson, Chair & Associate Professor, also presented an article at the AATSP meeting in San Diego. Titled “Past of Present of the Spanish Civil War,” his paper is a continuation of ongoing study of the civil war in contemporary culture.

He also has published a recent article, “La novela universitaria española: ¿deseo o rechazo?” (The Spanish University Novel: Desire or Rejection?) which appears in a new collection titled Deseo, poder y política en la cultura hispánica (Desire, Power, and Politics in Hispanic Culture).
