Two-day rummage sale benefits Nicaraguan scholarship fund

Scholarships awarded to Latin-American students whose families sponsor Xavier students during the service-learning semester in Nicaragua | April 23, 2007

The student government association executives, voices of solidarity and student organization of Latinos are sponsoring a campus-wide rummage sale on the green space. The two-day sale begins on Friday, April 27, from 2:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. On Saturday, April 28, the sale runs from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.

This large rummage sale is to benefit the Nicaraguan scholarship fund, which benefits Latin-American college students from the families that Xavier students stay with during the service-learning semester in Nicaragua. The Nicaraguan scholarship fund has been a long-time Xavier project and partnership, but just recently funds have been depleted. Many of the students started their schooling and were forced to quit due to a lack of funding.

Items not sold are being donated to the Salvation Army.
