Xavier battles University of Cincinnati in first Crosstown Laugh-Off

Top five students from each school square off for title of Crosstown Laugh-Off champion | November 16, 2006

Get ready to laugh as students from Xavier University and the University of Cincinnati compete against each other in the first Crosstown Laugh-Off. The stand-up comedy competition takes place on Wednesday, Nov. 29, at 8:00 p.m. at Go Bananas Comedy Club, 8410 Market Place Lane, Montgomery. Tickets are $5 and available at the venue.

This-first time event is an extension of Xavier’s “Last Muskie Standing” and UC’s “Last Bearcat Standing.” Similar to NBC’s, “Last Comic Standing,” students produce original comedic material to perform in competitions at their respective schools. The top five students from each school then square off for the title of Crosstown Laugh-Off champion.

The show is being broadcast live on www.rooftopcomedy.com. Online viewers can vote for their favorite comic. Audience members, online viewers and judges choose the winner who receives a trophy and Skyline Chili gift cards.

Comedian David Hyden is hosting the event as well as a DVD being produced about the competition. There will also be a special performance by Tyrone Hawkins who holds the title of Jerry Springer’s "Funniest Fan."
