On both Friday and Saturday nights the Xavier Players present the play "Noises Off" at 7:30 p.m. in the Gallagher Theater. This uproarious comedy follows the on and off-stage antics of an inept acting troupe as it stumbles from bumbling dress rehearsal to disastrous closing night. Ticket information is available by calling 513 745-3939.
On Saturday, Oct. 21, Xavier’s 175th anniversary party is celebrated beginning at noon on the residential mall. The celebration includes a scavenger hunt, a cornhole tournament, the Gospel Choir, ice cream and cake, and a show at the art gallery.
At 11:00 a.m. the newly formed club football team plays its inaugural game against the Golden Eagles of Marquette University. The game takes place at Shea Stadium in Norwood. The stadium is located at 3001 Harris Ave. Admission is free but donations are accepted.
Xavier President Michael J. Graham, S.J., celebrates Mass for the families at the Duff Family Banquet Center located at the University’s Cintas Center beginning at 4:00 p.m.
Several dinners are also offered Saturday evening, including one hosted by the office of multicultural affairs. After dinner, basketball season kicks off with Musketeer Madness, which is presented by Skyline Chili. The doors open at 6:00 p.m. and the teams take the court at 7:00 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.
“Family Weekend is the perfect opportunity for our freshmen families to further become a part of the Xavier family,” says J.B. Bailey, assistant director for student life. “It's especially a great way for parents to see all the positive changes taking place in the lives of their children since coming on to campus.”
