Multicultural Affairs Launches New Student Organization

African Student Association joins Multicultural Affairs family | May 30, 2006

During the months of March and April ('06), students representing various African countries (including diaspora) met and formed a new student organization. The African Student Association (ASA) recieved official status in early May.

The orgainzation will work within the parameters of the Student Government Association. Its overarching goal will be to expose the Xavier community (and external communities) to the African continent in a myriad of ways: cultures, politics, and history to name a few. The president of the ASA is Cherif Diagne. Cherif is from Senegal, West Africa.

The faculty advisor is Dr. Jerry Cline Bailey (English Department) and the administrative advisors are Paul James and Tekeia Howard (Multicultural Affairs).
