December graduate focused on quantitative areas of business and finance | November 22, 2005

Stepanka Frey is the recipient of the 2005 Financial Executives Institute (FEI) Outstanding M.B.A. Student in Finance award. Frey is an accounting manager for Skidmore Sales & Distributing Co., a full-service distributor and broker of industrial food ingredients with eight warehouse locations and technical sales coverage in 22 states.

Frey immigrated to the United States from the Czech Republic in 1995 and received her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Cincinnati in 2002. Frey graduates from Xavier in December with her M.B.A. and plans to sit for the CPA exam.

While attending Xavier part time, Frey extended her interest in the quantitative areas of business by focusing in finance. Her goal was and is to diversify her knowledge and skill base by learning and mastering a subject matter closely related to, but highly different from, her undergraduate expertise.

Kathryn L. Cutre was honored by the FEI as this year’s Medallion recipient as the outstanding accounting student. Accounting undergraduates Sarah M. Heitker, Andrea L. Longmeier, Bryan L. Moritz and Alan B. Williams were also recognized as exceptional students.

This year’s Medallion recipient as the outstanding finance student is Nathaniel D. Hollingsworth, Wilmington, Ohio. Finance undergraduates Sara E. Knutson, Shorewood, Wis.; Jonathan N. Koopman, Batesville, Ind.; Carl M. Fry, Greensburg, Ind.; and Justin R. Ganley, Shaker Heights, Ohio, were also honored for their exceptional accomplishments.
