Berger received her Bachelor of Science in nursing in 1993 from Xavier. She is the director of nursing at the Center for Surgery in Naperville, Ill. Scherder lives in Union, Ky., and is the executive assistant to the president and CEO of Omnicare. Kaiser also resides in Florence, Ky., and is an office manager for a cardio-thoracic surgery practice.
“Our mother knew that education was the most basic necessity after those vital to life itself, like food, clothing and shelter,” says Scherder. “Therefore, there is no better way to honor the memory of our mother than to continue her vision and passion for a good education to others.”
“The Roaden scholarship will impact not only the recipients of the scholarship, but also the patients for whom they will care for years to come,” says Susan Schmidt, department of nursing chair. “Sandy was a leader when she was at Xavier and is now a leader of nursing. Her vision and that of her sisters is yet another confirmation of their ability to see how they can positively impact the future of the world in which we live.”
