Accounting students help prepare tax returns

Students offer free basic Federal and State income tax assistance to the Xavier, Norwood, Evanston and Avondale communities | February 1, 2005

Xavier accounting students are preparing tax returns for low income and elderly taxpayers, as well as students, on Tuesday evenings, 5:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m., Feb. 15-April 12.

The students are offering free basic federal and state income tax assistance to the Xavier, Norwood, Evanston and Avondale communities through the IRS-sponsored volunteer income tax assistance (VITA) program.

Call 513 745-3236 to schedule an appointment and bring a photo ID, your Social Security card, any tax-related forms and a copy of last year’s tax return, if possible, to the appointment. The students are set up on the second floor of Schott Hall, which is also the admission building on Dana Avenue. Parking is available in the office of admission parking lot after 5:00 p.m.

Xavier alumni who are CPA tax professionals also volunteer their time to assist in the review process.

Assistance is available, 5:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m. on the following Tuesdays:

Please note there is not a tax return preparation session on Tuesday, March 22.
