But religious fundamentalism is a global phenomenon that crosses national, ethnic, socio-economic and religious boundaries. However we define it, what is clear is that religious fundamentalism is on the rise both in the United States as well as abroad. Fundamentalists shape their message and their strategies to fit the times and increasingly they are impacting the national and global political landscape. Fundamentalism raises profound theological, ethical, and political questions with which we all must contend.
