All accountants holding active licenses in Ohio are required to participate in and report 120 hours of continuing professional education (CPE), every three years. Starting this year, three of those hours must deal with professional standards and responsibilities. As of Sept. 1, the Williams College of Business is one of five providers of this course approved by the Accountancy Board of Ohio. Of those five, the Williams College of Business is one of only two that will conduct live training.

Wednesday, Dec. 15, 7:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m.
All attorneys holding an active license in Ohio are required to have 24 hours of Continuing Legal Education (CLE) every two years. Two and a half hours of CLE must comprise training in ethics, professionalism and substance abuse. One hour is allocated to both ethics and professionalism and a half hour is allocated to substance abuse training. The Ohio Commission on Continuing Legal Education approved course is being offered through the Williams College of Business this December.

Both the CPE course and the CLE course is taught by Paul Fiorelli, JD, M.B.A. Fiorelli is the director for business ethics and social responsibility at the Williams College of Business. Fiorelli began teaching at Xavier in 1983 and is experienced in both accounting and law. He worked as a tax attorney for Ernst & Whinney and was a Supreme Court fellow for in 1998-1999. During his time in Washington, D.C., he worked at the United States Sentencing Commission and received the Thomas Clark Outstanding Fellow award from Chief Justice Rehnquist.
