Tara Boothe named honorable mention All-American

Women's basketball star recognized by Street & Smith after leading the team in scoring, rebounding, steals and blocks last season | September 30, 2004

Xavier women’s basketball team standout Tara Boothe was honored as a preseason All-American selection by Street & Smith’s magazine.  Boothe is one of three Atlantic 10 Conference players to earn mention from the national publication, which is available at newsstands and bookstores now.

Richmond’s Kate Flavin and George Washington’s Anna Montanana were also recognized by Street & Smith’s as Honorable Mention All-American’s.

Boothe, a 2004 All-Atlantic 10 selection, led the Musketeers in scoring (18.1 ppg), rebounding (7.6 rpg), steals (1.7 spg) and blocks (0.9 bpg) during the 2003-2004 campaign. Last season, Boothe tied a Xavier record when she scored her 1,000th point in only her 59th game as a Musketeer. She currently sits in 18th place on Xavier’s all-time scoring list with 1,021 points.

The junior forward also earned national recognition after the 2002-2003 season when she was honored as a Freshman All-American. 

The Musketeers finished the 2003-2004 season with a 17-13 record and advanced to the WNIT first round.

Xavier begins exhibition play on Wednesday, Nov. 3, when it takes on the Indiana All-Stars at Cintas Center. Tip off is slated for 7:30 p.m.
