Summer youth sports camps now underway

Six coaches’ camps teach young athletes fundamentals and sportsmanship in a competitive setting | June 3, 2004

Xavier is hosting six summer camps that will instruct young players in the fundamentals of the game while teaching sportsmanship and appreciation for the sport. These camps offer personalized instruction in a challenging, competitive setting. They run June through August.

The Thad Matta basketball camp offers four sessions throughout June and July open to boys in grades 2-9. The camp also sponsors an overnight session for those ages 8-17. The Kevin McGuff basketball camp includes two sessions for girls in grades 3-12, and one for high school and Amateur Athletic Union teams.

The Xavier baseball camps offer three week-long sessions in June for boys ages 7-13. The Floyd Deaton volleyball camp teaches basic to advanced skills in its five sessions.

The Xavier University stroke analysis swim clinic is open to boys and girls ages 8-18. Week-long sessions begin on July 19 and run through August. Finally, the Jack Hermans soccer camps offer afternoon and evening sessions.
