That's the challenge facing students this weekend at the Gallagher Student Center theater. Students participating in the annual 24-Hour Theatre production are congregating at the Gallagher Student Center at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23. There, they will find two scripts on the stage. The Players have one day to choose directors and casts, rehearse the shows, and add finishing touches to the productions with costumes, props, set pieces, lighting and sound. Participants only are permitted to leave the theater two at a time to secure props and other itemsand, of course, food.
Then, regardless of how prepared the students are, the curtain goes up Saturday at 7:30 p.m. for the productions' one and only performance.
"Along with the fun and challenge of doing in one day what usually takes weeks, 24-Hour Theatre is an exercise in leadership, teamwork and practical production experience in which the importance of the process is brought to the forefront," says Cathy Springfield, director of performing arts.
General admission seating is $3, and tickets are available at the door.
