Prospective students and alumni team up to cheer Musketeers

Pregame receptions encourage networking between alumni, potential students | January 9, 2004

As the basketball season heats up on the court, so does the college selection process as the office of alumni joins the office of admission for pregame Musketeer receptions before two men's basketball games on Jan. 14 and 28. Alumni, parents, prospective students, high school guidance counselors and friends are invited to the receptions, which feature hot and cold hors d'oeuvres, cash bars and raffles for Xavier keepsakes.

Musketeer fans can join alumni at the Pittsburgh Marriot City Center for the Wednesday, Jan. 14, game against the Duquesne University Dukes. Those in the D.C. area can join alumni on Wednesday, Jan. 28, at the Washington Marriott before the team hits the court at George Washington University. Both receptions are from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. The first 12 alumni who register on the alumni web site receive two free tickets to the game. Winners must be present at the reception, or their tickets will be raffled off.

This collaboration is part of an ongoing project that was sparked last year with much success. Assistant director for alumni chapters Matt Tripepi says the admission office selects locations for the pregame receptions that allow prospective students to experience Xavier networking opportunities away from campus. "These are great chances for prospective students and friends to see the camaraderie of Xavier alumni and great family experiences," Tripepi says.

Those who are interested are asked to register for the Jan. 28 game by Jan. 23. The registration for the Jan. 14 game was Jan. 9. Both receptions are open to the public.
