Women’s basketball opens season against Central Connecticut

Provident Bank Invitational held at Cintas Center through weekend | December 5, 2002

The women’s basketball team hosts the Provident Bank Xavier Invitational at the Cintas Center this weekend, opening their season against Central Connecticut State University. The kick-off game begins at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7. At 3:00 p.m., it’s St. Louis University against the University of Michigan. On Sunday, Dec. 8, the championship game will be held at 3:00 p.m., preceded by the consolation game at 1:00 p.m. All games take place at Cintas. Prior to the first game Saturday, Sandy “Spin” Slade, one of the best dribblers in the world, will hold a free clinic for the first 100 children in grades 3 through 8, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. All who participate receive a free game ticket and a chance to win gift certificates from Everybody’s Records, Skyline Chili, O’Bryon’s Irish Pub and other prizes.
