This weekends performance helped the Musketeers improve their record to 14-14 overall and 8-6 in Atlantic 10 play, while Fordham finished its season at 10-22 overall and 2-12 in the conference.
Xavier is advancing to the A-10 championships in Philadelphia against A-10 regular season champion Temple University on Friday, Nov. 21, at 4:30 p.m.
Freshman setter Marisa Main had her third career triple-double for Xavier, with 35 assists, 12 kills and 15 digs while hitting .800 Saturday night and recording a career-high six service aces. Main is the only player in the Atlantic 10 to record a triple-double this season.
Sophomore Kate Duchek hit .448 and had a match-high 15 kills, while freshman Erica Kaczorowski added 12 for the Musketeers, who held a .402 to .161 hitting percentage advantage in the match.
Main posted five kills on five swings and four service aces in Xaviers 30-21 game one victory. The Musketeers jumped out to a 4-0 lead and never looked back as the Rams pulled to within a point at 4-5 before the Musketeers went on a 7-3 run to put the game win out of reach. Duchek added five kills on just 10 attempts for the Muskies, who out-hit the Rams .412 to .333.
Xavier got off to another hot start in game two, using a 7-3 run to open its way to a 30-20 victory. Duchek and Main each had another five kills, while Kaczorowski had seven for the Musketeers, who out-hit Fordham .559 to .194.
Xavier put away the Rams in game three with a 30-20 victory after opening the game with an 11-2 run. Duchek had another five kills, while Kaczorowski posted four more for the Musketeers.
