Stanford upsets Musketeers, 63-62

Men's basketball team knocked out of Preseason NIT | November 21, 2002

The men's basketball team lost to Stanford, 63-62, last night in the second round of the Owens Corning Preseason NIT. Xavier trailed almost the entire game, shooting just 40 percent from the field for the game and making just six of 20 three-point attempts. It was also out-rebounded by Stanford, 37-28. "You have to give Stanford all the credit,” Xavier coach Thad Matta said. “The thing that slowed us down was our rebounding. We never got out in transition. And we never got the ball where we needed it against the zone.”
