O.A.R. to give Halloween concert at Cintas

Popular reggae and roots rock band to stop at Xavier during In Between Now and Then tour | September 29, 2003

Reggae and roots rock band O.A.R. is performing a Halloween concert at the Cintas Center on Friday, Oct. 31, at 8:00 p.m. Sponsored by Xavier’s student activities council, the concert is open both to students and the general public.

The concert is part of the O.A.R.’s “In Between Now and Then” tour, which includes special guest performers Michael Franti and his band, Spearhead, whose new album “Bomb the World” hit stores in August.

Tickets go on sale Wednesday, Oct. 1, at 11:30 a.m. and are available through Ticketmaster and at the Cintas box office. Tickets are $10 for Xavier students, $15 for non-Xavier students and $20 for the general public. The night of the concert, doors will open at 6:30 p.m.

The visit to Xavier’s Ohio campus is somewhat of a homecoming for the members of O.A.R., who spent their college years as students at The Ohio State University. The band got its start touring around Ohio, playing on weekends and during summer breaks. The band recorded its first four CDs with small D.I.Y. Records, selling a total of nearly 290,000 copies. Recently the band signed with the larger Lava Records label, which backed their most recent “In Between Now and Then” release.
