First Year at Xavier University:
Megan McCarty, Marketing Partner for University Communications, has been a higher-education marketer for more than eight years. In her current role, she manages digital and print projects and connects members of the university community to the marketing resources that best help them share their stories. She also works closely with Xavier’s research partners to conduct research on the state of the Xavier brand.
Before joining the team at Xavier, Megan served as Assistant Director of Web Marketing + Communications for Northern Kentucky University, after being promoted from Web Editor/Specialist, a position she held from 2007-2012. While at NKU, Megan managed the university’s web redesign and implementation of a new content management system, including leading a team of web editors, directing technical updates and coordinating campus training. Her research-based design for the NKU home page won the 2012 CASE Kentucky Grand Award, after her production of an email campaign to encourage student success and retention earned her team the CASE Kentucky Award of Excellence in 2011.
Prior to her web roles, Megan served as Communications Coordinator for NKU’s Chase College of Law, where she managed print and web communications for the Admissions and Advancement offices and handled event promotion and media relations. She came to Chase from Landor Associates in downtown Cincinnati, after also doing editing work for Ohio University’s Communications and Marketing office.
In addition to her primary roles throughout her career, Megan also served as Managing Editor of the NKU Chase College of Law magazine from 2008 to 2011 and as an instructor in NKU’s Office of First-Year Programs, where she had the opportunity to connect directly with fantastic groups of students and work to have a positive impact on their chances of success. She has written for HOW magazine, I.D. (International Design) magazine and Northern Magazine, and she serves on the Cincinnati Scholarship Foundation Board of Trustees as a member of the marketing committee.
