First Year at Xavier University:

Virology, Ballroom Dancing

Christon Hurst did exhibition dancing as a teenager, performing native North American dances in traditional costume. Upon deciding that such dancing would not pay a living, he studied for a professional science career. His education included earning a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from the University of Cincinnati and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in virology and epidemiology from Baylor College of Medicine. He devoted the twenty-seven years which followed that formal education to doing research on the microorganisms which cause infectious diseases acquired from water and published a number of books on various topics in microbiology. Along the way, he took up ballroom dancing as a serious hobby. Christon eventually took an early retirement and switched his profession and main hobby. He now continues doing science and still publishes microbiology books, but does so as a hobby. He does ballroom dancing professionally.
