First Year at Xavier University:
Dave Johnson assumed his role of Associate Provost for Student Affairs at Xavier University on July 1, 2012, after five years of progressive professional development. While at Xavier, he served as the interim Associate Provost of Student Life and Leadership (2011-2012), the Executive Director for the Dorothy Day Center for Faith and Justice (2010-2011), and Director for Peace and Justice (2007-2010).
Before coming to Xavier, Dave received his master’s degree in theology with a concentration in social ethics from Boston College where he worked in Campus Ministry and Residence Life, supporting the international immersion trips program and living in a first-year residence hall. Dave also has a Bachelor’s degree in Peace Studies from St. John’s University in Collegeville, MN and is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Higher Education from Miami University in Oxford, OH.
Dave has a depth of international experience as well. Before Boston College, he worked five years for the SHARE Foundation, a United States-Salvadoran Nongovernmental Organization that facilitates cross-border grassroots organizing, economic development initiatives and political advocacy. Dave spent the first half of that time in San Salvador, El Salvador as the Coordinator for Grassroots Organizing. The second half of that time, Dave spent in Washington, D.C. as the Political Advocacy Director. Additionally, Dave spent a year teaching in Belize and participated in a 9 month biking tour from the southernmost tip of Argentina all the way to Collegeville, Minnesota.
