Biography:

The study of art caused Professor Marsha Karagheusian to cross the United States on a diagonal. A New England native, she earned a BS in Art Education from Southern Connecticut State University in 1975. After teaching junior high school art for one year, she relocated to Kentucky to pursue private study in drawing and sculpture at Studio 70 with artist Michael R. Skop. Simultaneously she earned a BFA in ceramics from Northern Kentucky University in 1978. Then it was off to the red hot desert for an MFA in ceramics from Arizona State University in 1981. After marrying Michael Murphy in 1982, she returned to Kentucky where she lives with him and their two children. She maintains a ceramic studio in her home, and exhibits on the local, regional and national levels. Marsha began teaching part-time at Xavier in 1983, and became full-time in 1986, teaching all sections of ceramics and art education. She chaired the Department of Art from 1997-2007, and is now back to teaching full-time.
